Numerous possibilities exist for organizations and individuals interested in partnering with the Urban Assembly School for Green Careers, from one-time projects to more long-term commitments. Potential partners are also invited to bring to UAGC pre-existing programs that further our mission. For more information, or to become a partner, email partners@uagreencareers.org.
Current partnership opportunities include:
Host a Field Trip
Reflecting our belief that sometimes the best opportunities for learning take place outside the classroom, UAGC students spend much of their time studying real-life manifestations of “green” in New York City and beyond. Visits to parks and museums, professional and work sites, and natural resources help students expand their opportunities for understanding and connect their school studies to the world beyond. Field Trip sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Guest Speaker or Class Project
Regularly scheduled speaking opportunities on panels, in classes, and as part of special events are key to helping UAGC students gain access to the world of green careers and develop important professionalism skills. Speakers may deliver a presentation on a particular topic, engage in a question and answer roundtable, or help facilitate a discussion or project on a specific issue or skill set.
Join the CTE Advisory Board
School advisory boards help guide important school decisions, aid in fundraising and partner recruiting, and offer insight into the school’s theme. As a Career and Technical Education (CTE) school, UAGC’s advisory board is especially crucial to helping the school develop and implement its curriculum and programming to prepare students for critical careers approached from the perspective of sustainability .
Host an Intern
Internships and pre-apprenticeships are one of the most important ways that young people gain knowledge of career opportunities and learn what professions interest them; for this reason, all UAGC students need access to summer enrichment programs with partner organizations and opportunities for work-based learning experiences, such as internships, during the school year.
Consult on Curriculum
UAGC’s teachers strive to offer the most engaging and experience-rich curriculum possible, and thus their ability to keep up with the rapid changes in green industries is essential. Curriculum consultants provide field-specific expertise that enriches students’ experience in their core classes and helps teachers align the content of these classes to relevant real-world topics.
